Nowhere in Cornwall attracts the crowds like St Ives yet, even in the height of summer, you’ll find peace and quiet here. Glamping at Wildflower Wood involves five Landpods pitched in woodland just a mile from the sea, near scenic St Ives Bay, are ideal for walkers, beach and nature lovers, families and couples.

Each of the five Landpods sleeps a family of five or four adults in two 4′ double beds and there’s a comfortable upholstered bench that can be used as an extra single bed.   With insulated roofs, carpet and AstroTurf flooring, a wooden frame and sealed windows, the Landpods are warm, weatherproof and cosy. Each is fitted with off-grid LED lighting and USB charging points. Note there’s no Wi-Fi so you can really get away from it all.

During my two days here Glamping at Wildflower Wood I had the best night’s sleep for a long time and woke to the sound of the birds. I was unlucky and had some rain but felt home and dry inside my Landpod. It’s a 20-minute walk to catch the bus into St Ives, but I made full use of an E-bike. Just be aware of battery life, if you’re going some distance – you wouldn’t want to run out of juice.
