Polarsteps, the travel app used by more than 18 million explorers worldwide, has launched Polarsteps Unpacked, an in-app experience that gives you a personalised, story-driven look back at the journeys that shaped your year.
This is an added feature to the main travel tracking app which automatically charts a user’s journey anywhere in the world and displays a colourful reminder of it using personal photos as memories of each visited location.
Polarsteps Unpacked turns each of your travels throughout the year into a beautifully crafted snapshot, highlighting your most memorable expeditions and adventures and unique travel stats.
Bringing together the trips you’ve documented over the past 365 days, Polarsteps Unpacked reveals:
How far you travelled
Number of days travelled
Distance you travelled
Your furthest point from home
Countries visited, including the most unique place you visited
Thematic highlights and your ‘Travel Personality’, generated using Polarsteps’ human-centred AI
The travel buddies you shared adventures with
Designed to be fun to explore and even more fun to share, Polarsteps Unpacked is a celebration of everything that made your year in travel unforgettable, from the spontaneous detours to the once-in-a-lifetime discoveries. Polarsteps Unpacked shows where you’ve been, what you’ve seen, and who you are as a traveller.
The launch follows the newly released Polarsteps Year in Travel 2025 report, which highlighted striking shifts in global travel behaviours. For example, British travellers are now posting more public travel content than any other major European nation (44%), and they are adopting AI-powered planning faster than any of their European counterparts, with 23% already using AI for inspiration.
Polarsteps Unpacked will be available exclusively within the Polarsteps app from 15 December.2025 To unlock it, users must have recorded at least one trip (with content) in the past year.
