Trapeze artists being held up by their hair, stunts on horseback, Mariachi bands and mouth juggling – all before the first interval. Welcome to Gifford Circus’ latest show ¡Carpa! a serious fiesta for the senses.

Two hours of seriously high-energy music, jaw-dropping stunts, and captivating circus with moments of humour thrown in for good measure, I really couldn’t think of a more enjoyable way to spend an afternoon with the family. Something for all ages (we spanned one to 43!) Gifford Circus’ latest creation really captures hearts and minds and leaves you buzzing for more.

“Our 2022 show will evoke the sights and sounds of rural Mexico. I have directed in that splendid country several times it is a place that I greatly admire. Mexico’s incredible art, music, history, and people will be our inspiration. We are bringing Mexican performers over to join the troupe and with them we will create a show full of skill, humour, turmoil and excitement.” – Cal McCrystal, Director

After working up an appetite from all that…erm…watching, there are some great options available onsite with a range of dining wagons serving delicious food and drink including loaded fries, veg tempura, pulled pork burgers as well as Mexican favourites such as tacos, nachos and churros.

For those heading along for the evening performances, Circus Sauce, is a great choice – a unique, travelling licensed restaurant offering a weekly changing three-course dinner starting from £35pp for adults and £25pp for children.
