Abu Dhabi’s entertainment destination of Yas Island will be transformed into an extravaganza of green, red, white and black on 2 December  as thousands of cars decorated in the colours of the UAE national flag gather to celebrate the country’s National Day and make a unique attempt to set a new world record.

Launched in collaboration between The Life & Style Show UAE, the country’s largest-ever consumer lifestyle show, and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), the world record bid aims to harness national pride to set a record for the biggest number of decorated cars in one location.

The organisers anticipate over 3,000 cars will take part in the National Day Union Car Parade with more than 300 featuring in the Guinness World Record attempt.  The parade route will start at du Forum and cover more than 3.5 kilometres.

The record bid will set the scene for the Life & Style Show UAE which will run at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 5 – 7 December 2013 and is expected to be the biggest consumer lifestyle show ever seen in the UAE with over 50,000 visitors anticipated across the three days.

Creativity in designs and patterns is encouraged for the parade, as the three most creative cars will be displayed within the ‘UAE’s Best Dressed Car’ feature at the Speed & Power event of the Life & Style Show UAE.  Speed & Power is one of six events at the show, the others being Home & Living, Fashion & Beauty, Gizmos, Gadgets & Tech, Sport & Leisure and Toys, Hobbies & Games with over 17 other feature areas.

Those wishing to take part in the world record attempt must decorate their car in the UAE colours on at least two sides of their vehicle; either the roof, the bonnet, the entire left or right hand side of the car, and each part of the decorated side of the car must be completely covered.
