It’s not often I visit a Presidential Suite and find floor to ceiling bullet proof glass windows and reinforced doors, but such is the attention to detail here at Eden Bleu Hotel, it’s clear any visiting dignitary is going to feel very secure that’s for sure.

Madinat Jumeirah
Well this was a first; a whiskey cocktail with real smoke pouring out of it. You can call it theatre, but I called it genius. It was a little number entitled “as good as it gets” the signature cocktail at Pier Chic, the celebrated seafood restaurant at Madinat Jumeirah set at the end of a pier jutting out into the warm waters of the Persian Gulf. Just us, the moonlight and The Burj for company. It was romantic for sure, but wait a minute, this was Dubai.

Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel
Looking out of my bedroom window thirty two floors up the gleaming new Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel, the full effects of the recent Siberian snowstorm were all too apparent. Istanbul was covered in a heavy white blanket and there wasn’t a car in sight.
