Tavern Maslina. Hotel Dubrovnik Palace
Just calling it spectacular is doing it an injustice frankly, for this is a view that will live long in the memory; a stunning seascape of small islands bathed in the amber glow of an impending sunset with a lone fishing boat slowly making its way across the bay. It’s like the perfect ending to a movie just before the credits roll. It really is breathtaking.

You can shout about cheese all you want to because let’s face it with so much choice around we all have our favourite types. Some cheese snobs might argue you can’t beat a strong stilton, a runny brie or a creamy camembert, but sorry cheese snobs you most surely can. England can proudly boast a fine cheese-making heritage and you won’t find a better example than Ford Farm cheeses. And in particular its smoked cheese range.

Brilliant Bertrand at Mr A’s. San Diego
I knew when the Maître D offered the choice of black or white napkins we were in for a special night. Situated in the heart of San Diego’s financial district, Bertrand at Mr A’s affords probably the most spectacular views of any restaurant in the city. During daylight hours, the office block where the restaurant is situated is a bustling centre, but entering the deserted building at night you feel as if you have been given access to a secret location.

There is something rather satisfying in being told that what you’ve just ordered has been an ‘inspirational choice’. I feel very pleased with myself that somehow I managed to pick the one item on the Square 1682 Philadelphia menu that surpassed all the others, and took a moment to glory in my success.

GB Roof Garden Restaurant. Hotel Grand Bretagne. Athens.
Being a God in mythical Athens must have been a busy business, as almost everything in this city has been put there by one god or another be it mountain, river or temple. I was feeling particularly god like myself, perched as I was high up in the GB Roof Garden Restaurant at the top of the Grand Bretagne Hotel with all of Athens laid out below me.
